Today we had the wonderful opportunity to take in a community meal and experience some of the talents of Mullens. We helped some of the incredibly dedicated workers at the MOC cook some authentic Appalachian cuisine–pulled pork and cornbread. The MOC invited their entire community of volunteers to the meal as a means of thank you. We were inspired to be surrounded by so much genuine care for the town we have grown to love. The place, and more importantly the people, have become a second home to us. We finished our service appropriately with a joint talent show with James Madison University and with the people of Mullins. The beauty of piano, violin, voice, and flute functioned as a microcosm of the beauty of the community that we became a part of on our trip.
